Video captures man stealing Pet Helpers donation jar

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are searching for a man who was caught on camera stealing a Pet Helpers donation jar on James Island.

Officials with Pet Helpers say it happened this past Saturday at the Tru Value store on Folly Road.

“We all would like to find and ID this individual who would snatch a donation jar with funds for homeless and abandoned animals from the counter of the Tru Value store,” Pet Helpers officials said.

The man got away with between $50 to $100, according to Pet Helpers.

Organization officials say money is needed to care for over 120 animals a day, from food to medical, along with helping the public with animals who come to them for help.

“We need every dime to handle our mission as a non profit,” organization officials said in a statement."No kill animal shelter is totally dependent on private donations, fund raisers, community support like Tru Value and others."

If you have any information you are urged to call police.
