School administrators wrap presents for homeless students

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - On Thursday, school administrators came together for the third annual “Berkeley Wonderland” to wrap presents for students who don’t have a place to call home this Christmas.

Officials say there are about 200 homeless students in the Berkeley County School District, and this year they have been able to provide gifts for about 50 students, and still counting!

All gifts are donated by BCSD teachers and administrators who pick children and families to sponsor earlier in the year.

“We’ve made their lives different for one day," said Elaine Swane, coordinator of adverse programs for BCSD."We can’t change their whole lives, but we can make it special for that one day.”

Officials say they would still love to see more community donations pour in.

If you would like to donate a gift you can drop it off at the Berkeley County School District office on Main Street in Moncks Corner.
