1 Officer Dead, 6 Others Injured in Active Shooter Incident in Florence

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC - One Florence city officer has died from her injuries following a an active shooter situation in Florence County. Six other law enforcement officers were also injured. Police confirmed the suspect is now in custody. 

Florence County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Glenn Kirby confirmed that a 20-year-old male civilian was also shot. 

The active shooter situation started just after 5pm when it was reported a female deputy was shot. It was later confirmed that seven officers in total were shot; three deputies from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and four officers from the Florence Police Department.

At 6:02pm FCEMD tweeted that the active shooter situation has ended but they are telling the public to avoid the Vintage Place area as there is still an active crime investigation in progress.
