Dorchester Co. to distribute sandbags Monday

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester County will begin distributing sandbags Monday, days ahead of Hurricane Florence's expected landfall.

Beginning at 1 p.m. Monday, sandbags will be available at the following locations with a limit of 10 sandbags per household:

Gahagan Park
184 W. Boundary St.
Summerville, SC 29483

Dorchester County Fire Rescue Station 214
214 Ladson Rd.
Ladson, SC 29456

Wescott Park
9006 Dorchester Rd.
North Charleston, SC 29420

Beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, sandbags will be available at these locations with a limit of 10 sandbags per household: 

Harleyville Town
122 W. Main St.
Harleyville, SC 29448

Hutto Ace Hardware – St. George
5726 Memorial Blvd. (Hwy 78)
St. George, SC 29477

County emergency officials began working at OPCON 3 Sunday, an operating condition meaning a disaster is likely or imminent.

The county's emergency operations center has partially activated and the emergency operations plan has been fully activated.

All Dorchester County Administrative Offices, Convenience Sites, Dorchester County Circuit, Family, Magistrate and Probate Courts, the Dorchester County Library, the Dorchester County Career & Technology Center and all Dorchester School Districts Two and Four Schools will be Monday, district spokesperson Tiffany Norton said.
