Fire destroys Colleton Co. plantation, crews investigating cause

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Colleton Fire crews have cleared the scene at the Myrtle Grove Plantation after 12 hours battling a three-alarm fire at the Myrtle Grove Plantation.

The fire occurred at the main house of the plantation located on the 6900 block of White Hall Road. One firefighter was hospitalized with lacerations, but has since been released.

Some firefighters called it the largest fire they had ever seen and used water from a nearby lake to fight the fire.

Nobody who lives in the building was reported injured.
