More funding approved for Clements Ferry widening project

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — There's now more money being funneled toward work on badly-needed widening of Clements Ferry Road.

Berkeley County supervisor Bill Peagler announced today the first phase of project has received another $9 million in funding.

The money was approved by the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments through the Charleston Area Transportation Study.

The project is under construction from I-526 to Jack Primus Road.

A second phase will see widening done from Jack Primus Road to Highway 41.

The second phase is currently under design. Construction will begin when the first phase of the project is complete

It's all expected to be completed by 2019.
